Fiona Reid Wilson: A Story of Transformation Through Strategic Leadership & Empowerment
Throughout my career, I’ve dedicated myself to helping organizations thrive by spearheading change, streamlining processes, and fostering collaborative environments that drive success. From my early days in client services and marketing, through to leading large-scale projects and corporate initiatives, my professional journey has always been rooted in one core belief: empowering people to unlock their potential leads to transformative outcomes.
Building a Strong Foundation: From Marketing to Project Management
My career began in the fast-paced world of advertising agencies, where I learned the importance of understanding human behaviour and consumer needs. Working with high-profile clients such as Barclays, Lloyds Bank, and Pfizer, I quickly realized that success was not just about delivering a service—it was about aligning with people’s motivations and aspirations. This insight into human behaviour would later shape my approach to project management and coaching.
As I transitioned into the corporate world, my expertise in marketing and communications naturally evolved into leadership roles where I could make a more significant impact. Leading marketing campaigns at Norwich Union and driving the successful launch of ASDA General Insurance honed my ability to blend strategy, communication, and stakeholder engagement—skills that would serve me well when I pivoted into project and programme management.
A Shift Toward Sustainability and Change Management
My role as Programme Manager at Freebridge Community Housing and Project Manager at Breckland District Council took my career in a new direction—one that was rooted in sustainability, innovation, and community development. Spearheading initiatives like solar panel installations and EV charging points, I embraced the challenge of driving change in an often complex, bureaucratic environment.
What stood out in these roles was not just the technical expertise needed to deliver these projects, but the deeper work of fostering collaboration, aligning stakeholders, and motivating teams toward common goals. This was where my passion for empowering individuals and teams truly began to take shape.
Discovering the Power of Coaching
It was during my tenure in change management, particularly when I was handling multi-stakeholder projects at Norfolk County Council, that I realized how often people need support—not just in terms of strategy and tools, but in terms of confidence and mindset. I saw time and again how teams and individuals thrived when they were empowered with the right skills and mindset.
In every role, I found myself naturally mentoring and coaching colleagues and teams, helping them navigate challenges, align with their goals, and achieve success. It was rewarding work, but I wanted to create an environment where I could have an even deeper impact—one where I could provide tailored support to individuals in their personal and professional growth.
Transitioning into Business Coaching
Having now accumulated over three decades of experience in project management, change leadership, and strategic communications, I’ve seen firsthand how transformative the right support and guidance can be. Whether it’s a solopreneur looking to scale, a mid-career professional seeking a new direction, or a team leader needing to refine their leadership style, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the obstacles people face and the tools needed to overcome them.
Today, I run my own coaching practice, where I blend my project management expertise with my coaching background to help individuals and businesses break through their limiting beliefs, refine their strategies, and achieve meaningful success. My approach is rooted in empowerment, accountability, and strategic insight—helping clients not only to reach their goals but also to evolve and adapt as they grow.
Why Coaching?
I chose coaching because I understand the power of guidance in moments of uncertainty or change. I've lived through it myself. I’ve made countless transitions—career pivots, leadership challenges, and personal development—and I know how crucial it is to have someone by your side, helping you see your potential, giving you the confidence to take bold steps, and holding you accountable to your goals.
My coaching practice isn’t just about theory; it’s about real-world application. It’s about helping people transform, not just professionally, but personally. I combine a lifetime of experience managing complex projects with my passion for helping others discover their strengths, build resilience, and develop the strategic clarity they need to thrive.
What Sets Me Apart
After graduating from Glasgow University with a Master of Arts (English and Psychology) I started work in advertising agencies, delighting clients with great service and creatives with strong succinct creative briefs that enabled them to deliver high impact work to effectively grow our client services and businesses against tight timescales.
This developed into a client-side marketing career in financial services and construction, and along the way I developed my leadership skills working with positive psychology techniques to lead measurably high performing teams.
The project and portfolio management skills I'd learned have transferred, more recently, into technical IT and renewable energy projects.
